The bad guys always deliver a speech, detailing their entire plot, before killing the hero, which they never do because they've wasted just enough time for the hero to be rescued/escape.

This is particularly true of 'Master-criminals' who, despite their superior intellect, never seem to learn this - maybe they're so busy committing perfect crimes that they don't have time to watch movies
