| I've been having this discussion with a few people recently about people who get offended by jokes. To me NOTHING is taboo in comedy because if you have to censor one thing for someone, you'll have to censor something for someone else (and so on and so on) till everything is classed as offensive.
Anyway i found this report on some woman who's complaining about Frankie Boyle ripping downs, just because her son has downs. But i found her quote ironic: "I expected dry, nasty, crude humour, yes, but unimaginative humour poking fun at the stereotype of people with Down's syndrome was not something that I expected"
Thoughts?

| You are quite right, the most innocent of jokes has a chance of offending someone so might as well have someone justifiably offended. In more news i made some Germans walk out at the last gig i did | |

| I think it's anyones right to be offended, but it's how they react to the offense which annoys me.
This woman knew the kind of (shyte) comedian he was so she shouldn't act so shocked, that's like going to see Chubby Brown but being offended by sexism.
Point is either it's all fair game, or nothing is fair game, like this woman has never laughed at a racist joke, or a sexist joke? she is basically a hypocrite and just because it's something that affects her she decides it's offensive.

| What he said ^^
God forbid I should ever tell 'THE JOKE' on here - can you imagine?
Humour is OK unless you say something the PC cunts don't like.... then it ain't humour anymore - it's just one 'ism' or another.

| If 'the joke' is the joke i think you're speaking about, it deserves to be aired, it's not as if you wrote it, although you'd be my hero if you did | |

| I am the type that is very easily offended by jokes about certain topics...but i don't feel anything should be banned or censored.
I just choose not to watch or listen to most comedians and wouldn't attend a show without knowing the type of material they are likely to perform.
And rather than moan about his act..and sit there all offended...i can't help wonder why she didn't do what i would've done..which is to get up and leave.

| I find the over use of the word 'rape' particularly annoying, some kid was running up the street last night shouting 'I will rape you' at his friend (no more than 12 years old). It's just not really what you wanna hear on a Saturday evening! I know Mithy and Dale are big culprits of this one, I just don't get why it's funny? As for the topic at hand there's a time and a place for controversial comedy and it shouldn't be mainstream in my humble opinion. | |

| George Carlin said:
"I have the right to my own opinion, so ican say wahtever the hell I want. But I also believe if you don;t liek somethign I say, I believe you have the right to kill me.
If someone says something I don;t agree with, and I say so, they respond with" Well, I have the right to my opinion!" To which I reply with, ?"Oh yeah? Well I'm entitled to my opinion too and my opinion is you have no right to your opinion."
Bottom line, if you don;t like what someone says, no one is forcing you to,listen.
Look at what happened with Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand last year. The original number of complaints about what they did to Andrew Sachs was 3. Upon hearing about the story about people being offended by what they did, 1000's of people then went on BBC Iplayer to then Listen to see if they would also be offended, and of course were duly offended, and complained! For fucks sakes, I will not stand by and let this fucking country turn into a PC pussy whipped Brady Bunch version of itself. Thankfully, people for the most part like us have comon sense and see these moaning old W.I Crones Disease having, bitter twisted skanky old fucks for what they are. God bless Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle and Russell Brand, they may be shite comics but thank god someone in the public eye isn;t worried about upsetting a few people in roder to get a laugh out of everyone else.

| Being pc is not a bad thing, its a respect for others, the pc name has been elevated to ridiculous levels by folks like the Daily Mail and The Sun. Something that stood for just not being a massive cnt has become a whipping boy for idiots | |

| If it's funny then fair enough it shouldn't be censored and generally it isn't. You can see plenty of offensive comedians still the so called PC brigade haven't stopped it john it's just that comedy moved on from stereotypical sexist and racist humour because it simply isn't that funny and to be honest I am quite glad to see the back of the likes of jim davidson and chalky. My girlfriend is Indian and I'm sure she has every right to be slightly pissed off if she went to show and the comedian was racist after suffering racial abuse growing up. I guess thi woman has a right to be offended by downs jokes if she has to wipe her kids arse. You can't on one hand say that we shouldn't take the rights away from a comedian to tell offensive jokes and then on the other say that someone hasn't got the right to complain about it! | |

| The right balance of PC is massively important to our society in my opinion. I think in many ways we've gone too far. For instance I hate how so many young girls have no self respect and many 14/15 year olds in my school have probably had sex with more different people than me! The problem is with this kinda comedy is it has an effect on that kid I mentioned earlier, which I'm then forced to listen to cause he's shouting at the top of his voice outside my house. I heard him mention Stewie from Family Guy so it's obvious where he got it from. Thing is, I (we) can watch that programme or others and find parts funny/unfunny/offensive but not let it affect how I act in public or with friends and family. The current generation of teenagers are going to be lazy slags that have no respect for decency and manors. I blame Sky TV! | |

| Kids will always want to watch adult orientated tv, its down to the parents to filter it.

99.999999999% of the time, bad kids = bad parents Spot on I can watch/read/listen to offensive material, and i may or may not be offended, but i am fully aware of the fact that my repeating something i see/read/hear may cause offence to others, so i either don't do it, or i pick my audience (ie you sick fuckers). As Mithy said, it's all about your upbringing. Those who have been brought up without reins are incapable of reining things in, be they thoughts, opinions, aggressive/violent ideation. We've all wanted to smack somebody around the head for some reason or other but we are governed by conscience and the fact that we realise it is against the law. People who are brought up and not taught basic things like this don't see anything wrong with their behaviour. I'm digressing now and am one step away from launching into a paragraph on sociopathy so i'll stop. Where's Blake by the way? This seems his sort of shindig

| And this is the problem. It probably wasn't so bad a few years ago when we only had 4 channels for parents to monitor. Too many kids have TVs in their room so early and mobile phones etc these days! | |

Sorry Neil but PC people ARE cunts. I think the insult to your missus is in you calling her PC. She does something out of conscience - that doesn't necessarily make her PC. Believing in equality isn't PC either. Believing in human or civil rights isn't PC either. Acting as a self-appointed moral conscience and telling everyone what they can or can't say or can or can't think because somebody might just be offended... now that's PC and it's the preserve of cunts. NOTHING should be off limits in comedy. You don't like a joke, then just say so and move on without raising your noses above everyone else's Political correctness is the most offensive, oppressive tool in the lefty toolbox and I think all lefties and PC cunts should be RAPED hard, then GASSED, then RAPED again for good measure

| My point is, im still an offensive cunt but i know where to do it and where not to and i regard myself as pc due to knowing the limits and still having respect/doing what i do in a respectful way.
Being PC is not a fight against everyone elses fun even if thats what The Daily Mail/The Sun or anyone that has ever said "bonkers Britain" in a non ironic way
