Gigs!

how hard is it to get one?!
my band have been looking for gigs since after the kenilworth gig last year and it has been so hard to get any
I dont suppose anyone on here knows any venues/promoters looking for bands?

What exactly have you done to find gigs? I only ask cause I've seen some posts of yours on another site and I just hope that's not all you've done. If you can find out who the promoters are, badger them on facebook, myspace and 'other' sites you might find getting gigs comes a lot easier as you go on.

I realise it's difficult for you, due to your age promoters may not be able to offer you a gig or don't want 16 year olds coming to their night. The Cross had some issues with the friends of the bands, not the actual bands. And then there was that trouble at the Phoenix last year, with David from Paris Riots being escorted of the premises by the bouncers.

I was seriously suggest a day in a studio to get better demos for promoters to hear. Only 2 or 3 songs but with a certain quality.

yeah, i agree with Jim. I thought that Rig offered you some FREE studio time.. why didnt you take it up Gaz??

Another thing i think you need to do is PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE

well we've been asking round, sending loads of emails to venues/promoters and basically been doing all we can non stop within the last 4 or 5 weeks but we're just getting no reply of any of em except one to do with a punk/ska night in leamington who said shes gonna let us know within a few weeks whether she can get us a place on one of the nights but thats the only reply we've had so far

thanks mark you just reminded me about that me and rig said we were gonna sort something out in the new year but I've just been so busy this lately that I havent had time to email him but I just emailed him now to sort something out

There's not really much worth pursuing in Cov, to be honest so it's going to be hard.

The 'other' websites mentioned aren't really likely to be much help to you unless you have your cock firmly wedged between somebody's butt cheeks.

Speak to people like Krissy or Mithy - they're probably the best people to advise you on what to do to get gigs that are right for your particular genre

PM The Slave too - she does a great night on a Friday. It's in Nunny but you'll get a good audience - it's well run AND it's a pro venue too.

Decent demos are a must if you're going after gigs. But before that, do what Marky said - practice, practice, practice, then go and practice, practice, practice again before finally going to practice, practice, practice some more

shame you couldn't have done it at the time i offered mate, didn't have a lot on the go, unlike now

as for gigs, you have to have a decent demo, play promoters a poor demo they think they are getting a poor band

sorry it took so long to get back to you its just everythings been so heptic since december with trying to get gigs and getting new band members its been unbelievable

I dont get this, why so late in the year? You want to gig in 09 right? Dont forget promoters book you sometimes months in advance so the sooner you get demos sorted out the sooner you'll gig. It'll take 2 days max.

well maybe sooner then a saturday or sunday in may or june?

KIT KAT CLUB only does Fridays.
And yes, a popular venue is probably booking months into the future.

is there any chance it could be before that or the 29th because I'm going to see The Specials on the 15th

just looking at my calender and the fridays that we're available in may are the 1st, the 8th and the 29th if any of those dates are available

possibly starting to see why you are struggling to get gigs now Gaz if this thread is anything to go by

can i suggest you get someone in to do the admin side of the band and they just tell you where you have to be and when

dont judge me by this thread this isnt how I always try to get gigs and its not just me trying to get gigs Nathans trying to get gigs for us too

you can't wait til later in the year if you want gigs throughout the summer

let me know what sundays you have available and we can sort it. but don't let me down man, both bands i play in jam on sundays so i will have to make arrangements to sort this

i'll do you 2 songs, enough to get gigs and the quality should be good enough too

until then keep practicing, any 2 band members should be able to play all your songs from start to finish without getting lost. until then you still have work to do

Hey AK, fancy putting on the Markyg Birthday gig this year? my birthday is 6th June so Friday 5th? I am sure the blackbelts would play it you could put Gaz on too if he cant do the 29th May.
