| This year they've actually added mainstream films to the pest picture category, bout time they started to acknowledge the merits of films that actually make some money and not the normal good but unsuccessful art house films, some good choices too including 3 out of my top 5 films of 2009 (Avatar, Up and District 9).
Best Picture: Avatar The Blind Side District 9 An Education The Hurt Locker Inglourious Basterds Precious A Serious Man Up Up in the Air

| Inglourious Basterds was awesome.

| I found District 9 too frustrating. The whole concept was just ridiculous.
Hurt Locker was good but not sure it's Oscar material.
Haven't seen Avatar yet but really want to.

| God I loved District 9, the concept is not completely original but the setting was.
I think Up should get it though, just because Pixar just bloody deserve it for being constantly awesome.

| I don't think Inglourious Basterds deserves to be up there, District 9, An Education and Avatar certainly do. Not seen Up yet, but want to. | |

Best Picture: Avatar-Should get best Picture but more likely to get all the techy ones. The Blind Side-Ok performance by Sandra Bullock, one of those rich white folks take in big black boy from the Ghetto's type story.
District 9-Best adapted screenplay
The Hurt Locker-You only have to find a forum on this film and you will read dozens of threads from soldiers who thought it was a load of bollocks...well thats what you get when you get a woman doing a mans job!!Ha. Personally I watched it then forgot about it. Its one of those Yank fims where the US is good and non US is bad....Likely to win Best Picture then!
Inglourious Basterds-Yeah so many people say they love this homage/rip off from Tarantino but the only good thing about this for me was Christoph Waltz, I reckon he will get best supporting actor. I cant believe its up for best screenplay!!
Precious-Good Film that didnt feel the need to drag out the abuse parts but balanced the negative with the positive. Best Actress award for Gabby Sidibe would be deserved. Monique was good as mother too so best supporting actress??
I havent seen Jeff Bridges film but they reckon best actor will go to him. George Cloony was good in Up in the Air. A Serious Man-Not seen! Up-Animation Award Up in the Air-Clooney Best actor poss!

| enjoyed it, my kind of film. i'd found myself in a similar situation to Milky at the end a couple of times, minus the kicking but kind of knowing it could be on the cards if i said the wrong thing, which i think made the film more enjoyable and believable
i don't really 'do' films though, only beat em ups and gangsta flicks

| I didn't get on with This is England, felt like half a story.
I like Inglorious Basterds although it did drag in places and it wasn't by any means great, some good performances though.
