You can't be in the music industry and be that ignorant!
I'm seeing the lighter side of the argument now, all you have to do is cut out the militant activists and it's just a bit of fun. I don't think the people buying Joe's single are in anyway wrong though.

| I have it on very good authority from somebody very well placed in this industry, that Cowell's 'x-factor pop industry' is a fantasy.
"Boot Camp" doesn't exist in the real world and in reality, the music industry tries to avoid working with the mentally fragile, fame obsessed wannabes that Cowell cynically exploits for 'entertainment'.
As he put it to me - "When you're INVESTING hundreds of thousands or even millions of pounds in developing an artist, are you seriously going to take the risk on somebody so obsessed with being famous that at the first slight disappointment they could mentally implode? It just doesn't happen"

| The thing that really pisses me off about these people though, is how they keep banging on about how it's their lifelong 'dream', but if it really was, surely they would have spent their lives doing something about it, working at it, getting out there. Like you lot do. That's why I have no respect for them and that's why I'll be buying a single by a real working band - it's a kind of battle between good and evil | |

| Absolutely brilliant!
But I still kinda feel sad that people can be so moved in this case but not so moved to make a difference in things that really matter

| Well it's kind of interesting but I wish the couple who inistigated it had backed say Peter Kay, Journey, the Muppets or even the Pet Shop Boys. I don't understand their choice of song, seems wrong for the season.
And having a look at this top 40, I've only been out of the county 3 months, who the hell is Ke$ha or Chuckie and Lmfao? I do find it amusing that Leona Lewis' new entry only got to 29 but I suppose she's one of the few that is still doing anything where are all the other X-Factor, Pop Idol, etc winners? Where is Michelle McManus?!

You are REALLY missing the point of this, it wasn't that people wanted a bent christmas song to be christmas number one, it was they wanted a change and a break from X-factor and it's monopoly, also a voice. Read the lyrics; the band name, does that not spell it out to you why it was chosen?

What he said ^^^ We're 'raging against the machine' and saying "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" Very apt I'd say.

Fair enough, but I've never done what they told me, which is why I often get in trouble (see night dinking in The Windmill with Marky G and the Hermits).

| There IS an important point though.
I think this whole thing is basically saying that there are people out there who aren't brain dead sheep.
The irony is, as Mithy has pointed out, that we have to become sheep in order to get the message across by all collectively joining this campaign.
But having said that, collectively, we got the message across that we're all bored with the same old fake, over emotional cheese that we've been having rammed down our throats for too long. So maybe it shows we're just more intelligent sheep?

| But if we hadn't all collectively chose a song then there would have been no chance. | |

| A facebook group to protest Christmas on the whole would have been more of a victory on us not doing what we're told to. | |
