Been caught up in a few facebook discussions about it now so thought it'd be good on here cause I know there are differences of opinions.

Sony wins either way. If they wanted to beat x factor then it should have been a song that is accessible to everyone. I mean my nan isnt gonna buy RAM and I'm guessing that the average person isnt going to either. If it really is about stopping the x factor then another song would have had a better chance. To be honest I gave up on humanity when Alexandra Burke beat Jeff Buckley's version of Halleluja last year. I hope Rage win, I'd rather money went to charity than Simons fat wallet. Then again I'd rather the Muppets got xmas no 1. heh!!

I don't know why people keep getting hung up on the money going to sony thing, it's not about the money it's about a voice, people saying they don't want this shit dominating every christmas number like the x-factor winner should have it by default.

It's good that for once people are standing together to try and make a difference. Shame they can't do it about taxes, or soldiers getting killed for lack of body armour, or political correctness, or CCTV in yer face everywhere you go.

But I gues 'the people' know what the real important things are, right?

That is one of the things that bugs me the most! How something totally irrelevant can get all this support when there's really issues to be dealt with by the masses. Disappointing really! Can't help but feel it's like becoming a monster to defeat a monster mind!

I'm not hung up on anything to do with this whole thing. I really dont care what is No 1 for xmas. It means sod all to me. This whole thing would have had more of a voice if the couple that started it had used a local band they know or even recorded something themselves!! I doubt RAM intended this song to be used to fight the BIG fight of....erm....xmas No 1!! Mind you they are happy to go around promoting this surprise release.....and they were all around to do it at such short notice too....hmmmm I smell a big Sony rat here!!!

I read somewhere that one of the guys from RATM the machine is donating all his royalties to some UK music charity.. Not bad...

But they will keep the royalties from increased Album sales. If this was started by a couple the money should go to them too!!

Problem with this whole thing is that it really does show up how shallow and sheep-like the masses really are, and just what a cheap and tacky consumer society we've become.

The world out there is going to shit, but the front pages of the newspapers are full of a cheap arse karaoke singer who was too lazy to put in the work to try and make a career for himself - reinforcing the whole impression that talent and hard work mean jack shit - instant superstardom only comes through naff shows like this.

The headlines are either full of this shite or 'Jordan' or some other cheap wannabe whose only claim to fame is that they sucked off somebody famous' pet pig.

As I've always said - just take a close look and see how much of this shit YOU lot all buy into, even without realising it - you'll be surprised to find out just how much your lives are manipulated.

I'm having none of it.

i like it cause it shows that if the people unite in something then intresting things can happen

like someone said its just a shame the people dont unite in terms of real issues............

maybe this is a small ripple that could turn into a full on power of the people wave...........eg......sentences for peados, rapists and killers needs to be far more severe and i really dont know why nothing is happening on that
