I went into Tesco for a quick coffee earlier on and came across this on the back of a white sugar sachet....



...kind of like having a warning on the back of a packet of nuts - "WARNING: May contain nuts" (and that DOES happen)

What's the world coming to.....

This is quite obvious too....

This happens on bags of peanuts because peanuts are not nuts, they are in fact a fruit in the legume family.

And what is a 'legume'?

Legume is the French word for vegetable, so are you saying that peanuts are a fruit belonging to the vegetable family?

I think you should explain this in detail, quoting botanical evidence in support of your case.

Contrary to what their name implies, peanuts are not true nuts but a member of a family of legumes related to peas, lentils, chickpeas and other beans. Peanuts start growing as a ground flower that due to its heavy weight bends towards the ground and eventually burrows underground where the peanut actually matures. The veined brown shell or pod of the peanut contains two or three peanut kernels. Each oval-shaped kernel or seed is comprised of two off-white lobes that are covered by a brownish-red skin.

I've met about 12 Americans properly in my life and they've all been amazing

Hmmm...the wife one of the users on here is american mate and a good friend of most of us.

I've never understood why it's ok to have a pop and generalise americans but you can't do the same about anyone with a different skin colour. Not that I'd want to.

It's not ok to generalise or stereotype anyone, but it's done on a regular basis.

I experienced it at full force this week on it's a small world at Disney.

I've always found the American people very friendly and helpful. The goverment on the other hand........
