Stuff gets sent to the site and i get to choose what i review.

But i don't think i want to review anything i have a personnal connection with , don't think it would be fair and i might be sub consciously biased

I agree, if you be completely honest and don't find anything good about a song but still have to review it, then yes you try and be as constructive with your criticism as possible.

That's a good review Dale, I'm a little less prolific in my words now. One track would usually just get single paragraph from me. And 2 singles I reviewed recently I panned yet they're both getting shitloads of airplay, sometimes I get it wrong.

Actually a comment of Dale's last year helped me to become a better reviewer. From my review a Verve single.

I've reviewed local bands and I've been favourable to them, but not biased.

But you have it easier than when I started out Dale, I used to get sent loads of random stuff through the post. It's better now we get to choose what we want to review.

I mainly want to review games but apparently they don't get that many right now so i'm doing some cds until some game i can review come in.

What was the comment about the Verve review? i can't remember.

I read ALOT of review sites and listen to alot of review podcast so i guess i've picked up bits, got lots to learn though but i hope i can go further with it.

You told me I should say somethign about the lyrics and so now make sure there is always something about them in all my reviews. This is what I always say on 'other' sites, criticise all you like, but be constructive.

And whilst you might not be there for the music, at least by doing some you will be in line for free music you do want in the future. Like when I got the latest GnR album for free, there was no way in hell I was going to pay for it.
