we've just announced another cov gig we're playing The Tuns on the 31st of July

yeah but like I said before I aint advertising it that much I've only posted it on our sites and thats it I aint sending remiders and everything out yet

I'll be honest with you Gaz and try and see this as constructive criticism, but i dont think you should be gigging that much yet. I dont think your ready. It wasnt that long ago your bass player joined. I know your young and keen and all that but i think you need more practice before hitting the circuit. You've got a gig at the kit kat club which is ace, but have you ever been to one of those nights? It's a popular venue with a big stage and you'll have a full crowd of teens who will certainly let you know if your shit.
Back in the day when KH were The Circle, i think we made the mistake of starting gigging to early and it took years for people to take us seriously (some still dont) It's proper hard to change peoples mind about your band.
And i would really take advice from people on this forum, most of which have been playing live for over 5 years and know what they're on about. We all know your keen on your band but dont rush!

I know what you're saying Jim and I really apreciate the advice
I know Jordan hasn't been in the band for long but he feels ready for gigging and he knows all the songs on bass
I know what the kit kat club is like and so does nathan hes been to one of those nights and we're gonna get up there and try our hardest and if people dont like us then theres nothing we can do about it it'll be there opinion and we'll just try our hardest to get better

good work Gaz, just jam hard and give it what you got mate, its all about enjoyment at this stage and the only way to improve the live performances is by playing the live performances

if you get my drift

however it is nice that the lads on here show their concern

Having witnessed the growth of the Faid-->The Circle-->King Hermit I have to say Jim is bang on here. The first few gigs they did were truly awful and it was only once they got rid of their guitarist that they started to improve...I'd say at that point they were ready to do it. Some people have never given KH a chance since. Trailer rehearsed solidly for 6 months before we kicked off playing and even then we probably weren't ready but we were at a stage where the only way we'd improve is from playing shows. The kit kat club is a scary gig for a new band, especially if you're not quite there yet.

yeah but everyone goes through gigs like that, its part and parcel, i remember my 1st 20 gigs, all shocking, but i learnt more then than ever since probably

Gaz needs to make his own mistakes, like the rest of us and he will definitely look back on his 1st years gigs and think he's improved no end in a couple of years time, like we all still do ourselves

what you all suggesting? wait 12 months get a tight set then gig?? might as well break up his band then and stick to playing with himself in the bedroom, or maybe even rock band eh!

Nah just practice for a few more months mate, get tighter, lose the mistakes and build confidence

confidence comes from gigging experience and self belief man, you won't get self belief by being told you ain't ready by your peers

my vote is knuckle down, take a deep breath, stick yer chest out and do the gigs

i'll wager a guess they are 1st band on, it will fill up throughout their set, get the 1st couple of numbers out of the way to a nearly empty room and get the confidence instilled then put on a good show for the rest of the set.

then they can build on that, be a right good shot in the arm.

i don't regret any of my 1st gigs, no matter how disastrously crap they were

I'm kinda on rigs side, you only learn from your own mistakes.

Yeah I'd say just go out and do the gigs, the only way to get better playing live is to just do it, its a tough learning curve but you learn pretty quick what works and what doesn't. But yeah, Kit Kat is a big old gig so just practice your set as much as possible so its well tight and hit the fucker full throttle, its a great opportunity for you so make sure you take it
