Walking Dead

Love the graphic novels and I was a bit dubious about a tv series but the first episode was ace. If you like Old
school Zombies then watch it.

Not really old school to be fair as they pick stuff up and use tools and such like but still easily the best thing on Tv at the moment

I didn't see them use tools. Romero always tried to convey that Zombies still retained some of their basic instincts which he showed in Dawn of the Dead with them all going to the mall, Day of the Dead using a gun and more recently Land of the Dead. I think Night of the living Dead spent more time on the folks in the house and not so much on Zombie action.

More Zombies? Booooooooooring

I've watched the first four episodes and I personnally think it's got better in each one.

Wasn't a fan of the first one, it was the same old zombie film scenarios and also a near identical start to 28 Days Later. However, as it's gone on i'm getting more interested in the characters and I'm liking the situations they're in, the episode with the Mexicans was really good.

Guy's are just as bad. I only ever really watch Holyoaks and Eastenders. And on the rare occasion Eastenders is on, all I get is Dale sighing and grumbling about the awful acting.

I've caught up with this now, last night,
I've quite enjoyed watching it. It's good to see that for something which could be shortened into a film, is stretched out between episodes and still compelling.

The books are just as much about the developement of the characters as the Zombies prob more so. They are pretty much keeping close to the books with a little artistic lisence, if they carry on like this you are in for a real treat over the next few weeks.

Oh dear. Ep 5 is not the best, definately veering off from the book. I hope it's not the shape of things to come

Sort of. Just a couple of things that I liked in the novel that are missing, but then again at least if there are some changes it will give me a few surprises

Ok so season 1 out of the way. I think it started off ace and kept me really interested but the last two episodes let it down a little. I just think its a little bit too polished and 6 episodes were definately not enough.
I really agree with you about Kirkmans writing but I dont think you get the same balance in the tv show. On the whole it was a brill series, just needs to be darker and the director needs to be unafraid to lose strong characters early on and less of the Shawshank Redemption sensibility.

Have heard real bad things about the sixth episode, gonna watch 5 and 6 this weekend.

5th episode was fine, good character work.

Episode 6 was about as average as it gets, didn't feel like a good climax and left tons to be desired.

One the main characters in the books is the little boy, he shoots the cops friend early on
before they leave camp and the kid should be wearing his dads hat. It's iconic. I'm not being a "it's not like the book" snob I'm just a little dissapointed as it started off really good and bottled it. The zombies were a little
fast too.
