Well, magic's going great this month for me, 3 bookings of at least £150 each! So don't have to push it, and I still make a nice neat little wedge... Got a date with a beautiful lady on Thuirsday, had 2 last week, same day... And they went well. Blew £60 at the casino last week and My stilt walking trousers are just about finished. So come new year's I'll be at the Kasbah getting paid a bomb to make ballons animals from 8 feet in the air. Life could be worse.

But it's not all fun... And in answer to your question Dale, it all depends on what day jobs come up, it's gonna be a while before I can have enough work in the foreseeable futureto rely on it as mysole source of income, but a part time day job will help...

And FYI guys, I don;t have time to sell tickets for the Kasbah, and they actually really look after me well, I know some of the bands get treated like shit, I've seen it with my own eyes.

i do however often wonder why we get asked to play a bit compared to other more established local bands, perhaps its cos we're one of the minority bands who don't openly slag the venue off [/honesty]

Was that -1 for me? I looked at it as though jim was making a general sleight about having to pay to play, not just the kasbah. Been playing there since 2000 or so and have never been asked to sell tickets as part of us getting the gig, even when we've played the main room. I've no issues with the kasbah in terms of playing there as a band

i'm pretty sure that 98% of the local bands have beef with the kasbah and some 'policy' which i've never been subjected to. it has been witnessed on several occasions.

i always thought i was treated special with my Greek connections! heh

i can just never understand why a band member would publicly slate a venue that can offer them the best gigs in town

in Jims defence it was probably a joke however on certain other places earlier this year it got quite nasty

We were buddy buddy with them and never got asked until the last time when they said "buy 100 tickets" (Barfly only wants 50!) and " are you connected with a school?" to which we replied with "no" and "no".

apart from that there is no real problem, we just refused to play by those rules, if we're gonna do a gig where we can get 100 people to come then why not host it ourselves and get paid?

It would be nice to be offered the best gigs in town and we enquired, politely and sensibly many a time but clearly they have no interest in giving us any of these so called "best gigs".

yeah never been asked if we're associated with a school! odd one that! and i agree with the get paid to put one on ourselves stance, makes perfect sense.

i ain't really buddy buddy with them though, i've only ever been if i'm playing and when i saw brmc. although i do get on well when in their company

but yeah, still never been asked to sell tickets, by "best gigs" i mean support to bigger signed acts, main room or side

find it an honour to play such gigs, much like how i felt about playing covstock with the music et al. they are the gigs i remember best and ones to put on me cv/tell me kid about

We have been asked to sell tickets for any gig that has come up about us playing there. So in short, they can fuck right off, theres bigger and better places to play than the Kasbah.

Yeah I agree, we would like to play those gigs, but I guess they don't have faith in us.

The school thing is because they know 14 + is big money and kids are easier to get than adults.
