doubt the artist would be able to recreate Johns hair colour
without wanting to lower the tone i wonder how one would prevent an 'arising' in this kind of situation?! |

| shouldn't dress code state: naked
and this place (Women's institute in Solihull) sounds interesting. i've been looking into finding more hobbies and could do with finding my artistic flare.
you know what, i'd do this. obviously if its all female artists and in good taste. its one of them daring things to do before i die.

| I was a life model for a couple of years after I left Art College. 9 quid an hour??? NOT ENOUGH. I was paid 12 quid 20 years ago. It's not as easy as it looks. You must be able to hold a pose WITHOUT MOVING for 20 minutes at a time. The fact that you're stark naked in front of 20 odd students can be a bit offputting. It did my back in in the end. I was 'crucified' in a pose for a photorealist painter [with my head back] and every day for three weeks I had to hold that pose on and off for eight hours. I used to be nearly crying on the train to Brum every morning. I enjoyed the rest of it for the most part. There are dozens of really good oil paintings of me in the buff out there somewhere. Might turn up on the 'Antiques Roadshow' one day. |

| Johns interview would go something like this. Morning ladies, hope you've got plent of paint for the family tackle region and good stiff brushes. Leaves room. |

| When I was a student we had some really great life models. The most popular one among the students was a really fat lady. She was ace to paint. We did briefly have a guy who refused to take his socks off. We complained about this, obviously, and his excuse was his missus didn't know what he was doing and he didn't want to have to explain why his feet were dirty. Have you ever seen a studio floor? We had another one that lasted a couple of weeks..we called him The Barometer [ cos he just couldn't stop himself from rising and falling. ] It wasn't pleasant. |
