- Kick Ass 7/10 I liked this but maybe Im getting a bit bored with comic films now. There was nothing new here to be honest. Kind of like Mystery Men meets Wanted meets Superbad. I loved Hit Girl though and I think her antics made the film.
PS where was the electocution torture scene from the comic....?????? Where was alot of the darker stuff, it was very hollywood polished toward a happy ending which is the opposite of the comic mostly the "romantic aspect of the story but without these amendments i doubt it would ever have been made

| Shutter Island is a good book and the film remains faithful to the story. I'm a fan of film noir so I really enjoyed this. To be honest this film is not about the twist that comes at the end. | |

I did like the style of the film - it actually reminded me of those 40's and 50's thrillers I used to watch as a kid - a bit like a Hitchcock thriller. I thought that was quite cleverly reproduced. But in the end the film showed itself to me as more of a tragedy than a thriller - fragility of the human mind etc.......

| Its a good second watch because you see it from the doctors angle. Thats why the twist isnt that important. The final quote from Di Caprio made me really think! | |

| Finally got round to watching X MEn last stand. How bloody disappointing.
5/10 for Hugh Jackman's muscles seeing as he was 38 when hemade it. And personally, i don't think he's that bad an actor. Saw all of Origin's Wolverine too the other night, was ok, nothing to write home about though.

| full metal jacket- really enjoyed the film, especially the way its split into 2 'acts' counterbalancing each other, some stunning cinematography in there, hard to believe the ruined cityscapes were 80s London - 9/10 (loses 1 because the music annoyed me in places) | |

| Shaving Ryans Privates has to be the best first 30 minutes of any film - really takes the glory out of the war film, showing soldiers as simply pieces of meat (which is really what they are) being butchered indiscriminately. And a good story follows too.
Full Metal Jacket is classic. I never could quite make my mind up about Gunnery Sgt Hartman - was he just a sadistic bully or was he really just giving them their best chance of surviving? Either way, it leaves you with the worrying question: What are we left with when it's all over? A whole generation of trained killers with fucked up heads?
Welcome to America. | |
